Heading to National School Boards Association Conference

Yes, I am going to Orlando, Florida on Friday, on the district's dime (except for room service and booze) to go to the National School Boards Association Conference. Before you get the idea that I am going to have a good time there in Florida, in spring, you have to know a few things. First, I'm an Oregonian -- I don't like sun and I don't like heat and I don't like bugs. Second, I'm a workaholic and I had to get talked into this. I really didn't want to go and had to be convinced there would be a benefit.

"What am I going to do there?", you ask. First, I am going to talk to everyone I see from a foundation. Those are the people that give away money. I want to make sure I understand what they are looking for, what key phrases they like, and I want them to remember me. Parkrose will be applying for a lot of grant money after I get back and I want the yield to be as high as possible.

Second, I am going to go to a lot of seminars and I am going to make sure the information comes back to the district. You are going to see posts about each of the seminars I attend -- unless I decide it is a complete waste of time and even then you may get a rant. You are also going to get, if possible, audio recordings of the seminars.
